David Keith Waggoner Obituary

David Keith Waggoner, brother, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on January 24, 2025, at the age of 60. Born on May 7, 1964, in St. Louis, Missouri, he was the son of James John Waggoner Sr. and Judy Ann Waggoner.

David proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy as a Deep Sea Diver and Interior Communications Engineer, a service he valued deeply. His professional life was dedicated to the telecommunications industry, where he excelled as a telecommunications sales and design expert. He served as VP of sales at Cable Com and most recently as Electrical Designer 6 at SSOE Group. He was especially proud of earning his RCDD Certification.

David had a way of engaging everyone in any room he entered. His sense of humor was infectious, and he brought joy to those around him. He was an optimistic and adventurous soul that faced life with courage and resilience. He embraced life's challenges with a spirit of determination. He shared this strength, and appreciation of life with his children. The most valuable attributes a child could receive from a parent.

David was an avid golfer, loved boogie boarding and lounging at the beach, and even enjoyed the thrill of skydiving. David has traveled all over the US and parts of Asia and enjoyed experiencing various cultures, historical, and natural settings. All while cheering on the longhorns (win or lose!). He was a member of BICIS and truly lived life to the fullest.

David is survived by his beloved parents James John Waggoner Sr and Judy Ann Waggoner; his children, David Nicholas Waggoner, James Kaliam Waggoner, and Ashley Elaine Waggoner; his granddaughter, Karley Elizabeth Waggoner; his siblings and their spouses; James Waggoner Jr., Carol Ann Waggoner, Cindy McGlynn, Suzy Reed and John Reed, Amy Rutzen and George Rutzen. He also leaves behind his former spouse and friend, Melissa Hestand Waggoner, with whom he shared 25 years of marriage. They will forever cherish the memories they shared.

A public wake will be held on February 22, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the Armadillo Den in South Austin. David's family asks attendees to wear Longhorn apparel. This includes Aggie fans! If you cannot find a Longhorn shirt or something burnt orange, please wear cheery colors. The family asks for no black.

A private family service will be held at 1:00 PM on March 7th, 2025, at Fort Smith National Cemetery.

A public FUN-eral will be held at his parents' home in Little Rock, Arkansas, at 3:00 PM on Saturday, March 8th. The family asks attendees to "dress like Keith" in Longhorn apparel!

For service details, please contact his daughter Ashley at 737-618-4855.

In lieu of flowers donations in David's memory may be made to PCs for People (pcsforpeople.org), an organization whose work resonated with his passion for technology and connection. They empower individuals by providing refurbished computers, affordable internet, and essential digital literacy training, creating opportunities for those who need them most.

A note from David's daughter: "I may have been your favorite daughter, but you were my favorite dad. You will be missed and never forgotten. I love you."
