Gary Scott Cameron (Scott) Obituary

Austin, TX - Gary Scott Cameron

October 17, 1958 - February 9, 2026

Gary Scott Cameron, known to most simply as Scott, grew up in Miller, Missouri and the surrounding Springfield area. He was the son of Robert and Joyce (Williams) Cameron Sr.

Scott is survived by his brother, Joe Cameron; his sons, Trent Cameron and Jackson Cameron; several grandchildren; his nephews and niece, Tim Cameron, David Cameron, Daniel Cameron, and Sandra Schoen; and many dear lifelong friends, including Jim McAfee, Scott Laselle, and David Bonham.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Joyce (Williams) Cameron Sr.; and his brothers, Bob Cameron and Daniel Cameron.

He graduated from Miller High School and later attended Southwest Missouri State University, where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order fraternity and formed many lifelong friendships. During high school, Scott was a talented athlete in all sports and an accomplished trumpet player, proudly performing in the 1977 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and later in the Rose Bowl Parade.

Scott made his move to Austin, Texas, where he lived for more than 20 years, surrounded by friends and family. Scott's true passion was golf, which he played throughout his childhood and into his college years. He treasured the time he spent playing with his two sons and other loved friends across the Texas and Missouri areas. He proudly recorded four holes-in-one during his golfing career. He was also a lifelong and dedicated St. Louis Cardinals fan who rarely missed a chance to cheer on his team.

Scott worked in numerous sales positions throughout his career and was especially proud to be named Salesman of the Year for SCA in 1992, an achievement that reflected his strong work ethic, personality, and dedication. He later became one of the top sales representatives at Relax The Back, where he developed a true passion for helping people improve their ergonomics and quality of life through his own firsthand experiences.

Scott will be remembered for his kindness and generosity toward others. He was incredibly friendly to everyone he met and was always looking for ways to help people or do something thoughtful without ever expecting anything in return. A true gentleman, Scott treated everyone with respect, warmth, and sincerity. His warmth, humor, and selflessness left a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to know him. His ability to make people feel welcomed and valued was one of the many qualities that made him so loved.

Scott cherished time spent with family and friends and was a strong believer in God.

A celebration of life will be held in his honor for close family and friends.
